Design Development of Blox Building to Realdania

Blox building is designed by OMA architects and financed by Realdania. It is home to the Danish Architecture Center (DAC) and is an acrobatic mix of destinations (museum, restaurants, offices, companies, apartments, etc.)

Omas words about the building.
"BLOX connects inner Copenhagen with the waterfront and brings culture to the water's edge. The building absorbs the city's life and the routes through the building leads to unexpected and unpredictable interactions between the building and the city. The exteriors of the building is a stacking of the same geometric shapes in different formations. The colored textures are reflecting the shades of blue from the harbor. "

Inspired by OMAS ideas, sketches and the building's final result, Kolekto has worked with the history and structures of Blox and transformed it into a work of art / sculpture and playful building system. The sculpture consists of 8 building blocks. These are shaped by cutting through the building. When the blocks are stacked on top of each other in one way, they reflect the isometry of the building and shows the facade of the building. When  stacked in a thousand other imaginative ways, the various urban sculptures  create new stories in structures.

When the blocks are gathered in the corresponding and hand-made wooden box, they can be hung on the wall, as a small work of art, where the various shades of blue represent the reflection of the water.

This playful sculpture can be a building set for children or a piece of art  which can be hung on the wall for the adults.
